LOVE IS NOT ENOUGH

The poem ‘Love Is Not Enough’ is a raw reminder that love, though powerful, must be backed by truth, care, and respect to truly thrive. It explores the painful reality that people can say they love you — and still hurt, neglect, or betray you. Through layered stanzas, the poem unfolds the contradictions within love when it’s misused or misunderstood.
It speaks to anyone who has ever felt the conflict between love and emotional wounds, and ends with a hopeful message — to love better, more honestly, and more kindly.

Love Is Not Enough

You can love
And still hide the truth,
Whispering sweet words
That taste of bitter roots.

You can love
And yet tear down walls,
With angry hands that crush
All that gently falls.

You can love
And still forget to care,
Leave hearts in shadow
While pretending you're there.

You can love
And still turn away,
Choosing silence
When there's so much to say.

You can love
And ignore the pain,
Building bridges on sand
That wash away with the rain.

You can love
And still wield the knife,
Cutting through trust
As you dance through life.

You can love
And betray the heart,
Knowing the damage
Yet tearing it apart.

You can love
And wear a mask of grace,
While cruelty thrives
In a tender embrace.

You can love
And push them too far,
Breaking what’s sacred,
Leaving a scar.

You can love
But still lose your way,
For love is not enough
When the heart won't stay.

For love without truth
Is love in vain,
It shatters the soul
And deepens the pain.

So love with honesty,
With respect and care,
For love without kindness
Is a burden to bear.
